Saturday, August 25^th – Bargains on the Broadkill
This 23^rd annual event in Historic Milton features arts, crafts, jewelry, good, and lots of other goodies. The popular Great Duck Race offers cash prizes to the top 25 finishers with a grand prize of $500 and other prizes as well. This event is sponsored by the Milton Chamber of Commerce. The 10 mile Canoe & Kayak Race takes place simultaneously. For more information, contact the Milton Chamber of Commerce at 302-684-1101. There’s something for everybody on Saturday, so head down to Milton Memorial Park (Chandler Street) from 9am-3pm this Saturday and join the festivities!

Saturday, August 25^th – Beach Barbeque
The Children’s Beach House is sponsoring their annual Beach Barbeque Fundraiser Saturday evening from 6:30-9:30pm. Tickets for this bay-front bash are $85 and include dinner on the beach, beer, wine, & entertainment. Dress is casual for this popular, local event. All Weekend: The Rehoboth Beach Bandstand
Of course, if casual entertainment is your thing, the summer series at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand is your thing. The series is winding down as we near the end of August, so if you haven’t been out yet, be sure to check out the bandstand this weekend! Friday The Blue Tips Rhythm Revue will perform. Blue Tips is a variety band with a 6 piece line-up and smokin’ brass section. Saturday will be a concert by Sounds of Society which is a Chicago Tribute Band, and She Said Sunday will round out the weekend on Sunday. She Said is a popular, award winning band that plays favorites from the 70’s through today. All shows begin at 8pm and are totally free.

Who doesn’t love fresh, locally produced fruits and veggies? We are lucky enough to have several local farmers markets worth checking out, and since they’re open different days of the week, you can have fresh food all summer long! Here are three to check out:

Historic Lewes Farmers Market – 110 Shipcarpenter Street
Open every Saturday through the end of September. 8am-12pm. No pets allowed. Vendors sell everything, including fresh beef & pork, homemade jellies and jams, fruits, veggies, organic baked goods, gourmet cheeses, and more! For a full list of vendors, check out this list.

Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market – Next to the Rehoboth Beach Chamber of Commerce (501 Rehoboth Ave.)
Open every Tuesday from noon-4pm. In addition to the usual farmers market vendors you can also enjoy chef’s demos! Check out the website for lots of info, suggested recipes, and a weekly newsletter.

Milton Farmers Market – Downtown Historic Milton… you can’t miss it!
Open every Friday from 3:30pm-6:30pm through the end of October. This farmers market is only in its second year, but it’s already become a local staple! You can friend this market on Facebook for updates and more info!

Thursday, July 13th-Saturday, July 14th – Nanticoke Riverfest
The theme for the this 18th annual festival hosted by the city of Seaford is “Having a ball on the Nanticoke!” This festival highlights the Nanticoke River, takes place throughout downtown Seaford, and offers fun and excitement for all ages! Highlights of this event include live entertainment, the Duck Dash, carnival rides, a motorcycle & car show, canoe races, and competition events including: cornhole, duck calling, tractor pull, and for the kids, coloring! Of course, the biggest event is the float-in on Saturday afternoon when literally hundreds of people float down the Nanticoke River in all kinds of crazy contraptions! This is an event worth checking out for sure! For more information and a complete schedule of events, check out the official website (link above). Believe me, it’s a website worth checking out because there is way more detail then I could ever give you in a quick blurb. My best advice is to head to Seaford and check it out this weekend!

Enjoy touring some of the most beautiful public and private gardens around, as well as gorgeous private homes that are open for viewing. The variety will astound you! As the name implies, this event takes place throughout Milton. It runs from 10am-4pm, and you must have a ticket. For tickets or more information, call the Milton Garden Club at 302-684-3804.

Saturday, July 14^th – Lewes Summer Craft Fair
Enjoy high-quality craftsmanship while contributing to raise funds for the Lewes Historical Society. Over 80 vendors will display a variety of arts & crafts. Live music, food, and fun will round out the day! The show runs from 9am-4pm at the Lewes Historical Society Complex (110 Shipcarpenter Street). Cost is $5 per visitor, kids under 12 are free.

Sunday, July 15^th – Breakfast At The Firehouse
If you haven’t enjoyed breakfast at the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company yet this season you have another chance to do so! This delicious, all you can eat breakfast is hosted at the firehouse in Bethany Beach (215 Hollywood Street). Enjoy a tour of the firehouse plus an all you can eat feast of eggs, French toast, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, muffins, bacon, sausage, juice, and coffee. There are also special activities to keep the kids busy. Breakfast is $10 for adults and $5 for children over 5 and free for kids ages 5 and under. 8am-11am.

Of course, if you’re still looking for something to do, you can always head to the bandstand in Rehoboth. Performers this weekend include Another Level, the MD Army National Guard Live Fire Band, and Jamie McLean. All shows are free and begin at 8pm.

This popular event is hosted by the Milton Chamber of Commerce and takes place at Milton Memorial Park & Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. Join the 1500+ other people who enjoy this annual festival and enjoy an art show, crafts, boat rides, canoe trips, games, food, music, trail walks, train rides, a scavenger hunt, and more! A shuttle bus is available to take guests from the park to the refuge and back. 10am-4pm

Saturday, May 26^th: Historic Lewes Farmers Market
The Historic Lewes Farmers Market opens this weekend for another season! Located at the Lewes Historical Society Complex (110 Shipcarpenter Street), the HLFM offers the freshest local foods available in an educational, community-oriented, family-friendly setting! Support local farmers every Saturday starting this weekend and running through the end of September. 8am-12pm every Saturday from May 26-September 29, 2012.

Saturday, May 26^th-Sunday, May 27^th: Seaford’s Heritage Weekend
This 5^th Annual event is held at the Governor Ross Plantation all weekend. It features a living history encampment, demonstrators, crafts & exhibits. Living history artisans will demonstrate period crafts and re-enactors will participate in demonstrations. In addition, there will be live music and entertainment. Art and antique cars will also be displayed. For more information check out this YouTube video or call 302-629-9690. Opening ceremonies take place at 10am on Saturday.

Sunday, May 27^th: Lantern Tours of Fort Miles
Historic Fort Miles, located in Cape Henlopen State Park was an important defense position during World War 2. This weekend you have the opportunity to tour the gun battery by lantern light and learn about how soldiers defended the U.S. coast. There is a limit of 30 for this tour and pre-registration is required. Cost is $5 per person, and it is for ages 10 and up only. Call 302-645-6852 to register or get more information.

Sunday, May 27^th: Concerts in Cupola Park
Head down to Cupola Park in Millsboro from 6pm-8pm for a free outdoor concert sponsored by Thoro-Good’s Concrete. This week’s performers are “The Funsters,” a ten-piece band that has been performing together for over 12 years! Performing a wide variety of pieces from Frank Sinatra to the Beatles to the Rolling Stones and more, this band has roots in Southern Delaware and enjoys playing to their home crowd!

Come to the Nanticoke Indian Museum in Millsboro for food, crafts, storytelling, and more! Learn about the heritage of the area’s first residents! This festival runs from 10am-4pm.
