We are going to open up our weekend update a little bit this week because there are several great events going on all over the state!

Friday, July 20th – Broadway on the Beach
Head down to Clearspace Theatre in Rehoboth Beach for an original revue of musical theater hits that are sure to please! Show starts at 7:30pm, tickets range from $15-30/each. For more info or to purchase tickets, check out this link.

Friday, July 20th – Concert by the Canal
Head into Lewes for a free concert at Canalfront Park.  The concert will feature the band Big Fat Slim & The Has Beens!  Concert begins at 6:30pm and is totally free!

All Weekend – The Delaware State Fair
The Delaware State Fair begins Thursday, July 19th and runs through Saturday, July 28th in Harrington.  All of your favorite animals, rides, and foods are back!  There’s way too much going on at the fair for me to list here, so check out the website for more info!  Some highlights for the weekend include racing pigs, Circus Hollywood, Lego Building Contest, and concerts by Casting Crowns, Sugarland, Cheap Trick & Styx.

All Weekend – The Firefly Music Festival
If music is your thing, head into Dover for the 3-day Firefly Music Festival.  All three-day tickets are sold out, but single-day tickets are still available for each day.  The lineup includes The Killers, The Black Keys, Jack White, Death Cab For Cutie, John Legend, and more.  In addition to music, food, drink, and other attractions are a key part of this festival!  Firefly partners with Illuminate Dover and St. Jude Kids to give back to the community.  For more information, a schedule of bands, or to buy tickets, check out the above link.

Friday, 5/4-Sunday, 5/6 – Old Dover Days
Take a road trip and celebrate the history of the First State in its capital city!  This festival takes place on The Green & Legislative Mall and features Maypole dancing, walking tours, parades, yummy food, and more!

Saturday, 5/5:  17th Annual British Car Show
Head down to the Lewes Historical Society (Shipcarpenter St. btw 2nd & 3rd) to see beautiful British cars, featuring the Triumph Spitfire.

Saturday, 5/5: Town-Wide Yard Sale
The town of Milton is hosting a town-wide yard sale from 9am-12pm.  Come celebrate spring by finding some new treasures!

Saturday, 5/5: Nanticoke Indian Culture Day
Come to the Nanticoke Indian Museum in Millsboro for food, crafts, storytelling, and more!  Learn about the heritage of the area’s first residents!  This festival runs from 10am-4pm.

Pork Roast & Shrimp Pig-Out

Enjoy great food and live music at the annual Pork Roast & Shrimp Pig-Out at the Elks Lodge in Lewes (Beaver Dam Road).  Tickets are $20.  In addition to pork and shrimp, baked beans, coleslaw and rolls will also be served.  Pig-out on Friday, March 23rd from 5:30pm-9pm!  For more information, click this link.

Coastal Concerts Presents: Spanish Brass

Spanish Brass played Coastal Concerts in 2008 and impressed the audience with its versatility and vibrancy.  They’ve been asked back for an encore performance on Saturday, March 24th at 8pm.  Enjoying a concert by this world renowned quintet is a great way to spend a Saturday night!  The concert will be performed at Bethel United Methodist Church Hall in Lewes (Fourth & Market Streets).  For more information, including ticket prices, check out this link.

Bayhealth Family Wellness Expo & 16th Annual Baby Fair

“Cultivating Healthy Habits” is the theme of this year’s fair on Saturday, March 24th.  Head down to the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington to receive free health screenings and information about fitness and preventative care.  A childbirth educator will offer information and resources for expectant mothers.  Information on breastfeeding, childbirth, and child development will be highlighted.  For more information, check out this link.

The Delaware Home Show

Head to the Rollins Center at the Dover Downs Hotel (1131 N. DuPont Hwy) to see the latest products and ideas for your home!  Doors are open from 10am-6pm on Saturday, 3/24 and 11am,-4pm on Sunday, 3/25.  For more details including ticket information and a schedule of events check out this link.

For a party:

Take a road trip to Dover to experience the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  Be Irish for the day as the parade steps off at 2pm on Saturday, March 17th on Lockerman Street.

For a deal:

You’re sure to find something you love at Merchants’ Attic II at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Hall (229 Rehoboth Avenue, Rehoboth Beach).  It’s billed as the state’s largest indoor garage sale and vendors of all types will be present.  Doors are open on Saturday, March 17th from 9:30am-1:30pm and admission is free, although donations are welcome and benefit the Chamber Event Fund.

For your health:

Stop by Cape Henlopen High School on Saturday, March 17th between 9am-4pm to take part in the 18th Annual Holistic Health Fair.  It’s a free day of education, workshops, speakers, demonstrations, and exhibits that cover the topics of holistic health, the environment, wellness, green living, and even local foods!  Dr. Pina LoGiudice, N.D., L.A.c, who has been featured on the Dr. Oz Show, will give the keynote address, “Superfoods for Longevity” at 1pm.  Other talks, workshops, and demonstrations are hosted throughout the day.  This event also features live music, local art, and a Kids’ Zone hosted by Cross Fit Rehoboth.  It’s good for your health and fun for the whole family!
