The Buttery
Some have called enjoying a meal at The Buttery “the ultimate culinary experience!” Located in historic Lewes, the inviting atmosphere of this restaurant almost requires you to bring Mom in for a rich and relaxing experience! Their brunch is ordered a la carte and is served with fresh fruit and pastries as well as a choice of champagne, mimosa, or bloody mary. Typically priced at $22.95/person, it is unclear on whether they will be making any adjustments especially for Mother’s Day. Spotlight On La Tonalteca

La Tonalteca (4578 Rt 1) in Rehoboth serves up delicious tacos, fajitas, enchiladas and more alongside their famous margaritas. With reasonably authentic lunch and dinner options including pork, chicken, beef, seafood, salads, and more La Tonalteca serves up good food with good service for reasonable prices. In addition to the restaurant in Rehoboth, there are locations in Milford and Millsboro as well. On Saturday the Dewey Business Partnership will host their annual end of season beach party on the beach at Dagsworthy Street. Millsboro’s annual Big Thursday Festival starts, of course, on Thursday, 8/9! Thursday will be the President’s Auction at the Millsboro Fire Hall at 6pm. Friday evening, 8/10 you can enjoy Elvins and The Mystery Train Band at Cupola Park at 5:30pm. These events are followed up on Saturday August 11^th with a full day of entertainment, food, vendors, and activities for the whole family. Saturday, August 11^th: 39^th Annual Outdoor Fine Art & Craft Show
The Rehoboth Art League (12 Dodds Lane) will host this long-time event that features over 100 artists and artisans exhibiting fine arts and fine crafts. Saturday, August 11^th: Delaware Lighthouse Festival
Sponsored by the Delaware River & Bay Lighthouse Foundation, the first ever Delaware Lighthouse Festival will be held this Saturday at the Lewes Terminal of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry. There will be tours of Delaware Breakwater East End Lighthouse as well as entertainment, food, family activities, canoe and kayak races, art, and more. For those who are more interested in the history of lighthouses there will be lectures, experts, and talks with the descendants of local lighthouse keepers. Parking and admission are both free! 5 Mini Golf Courses To Try

I can’t think of many family activities that shout SUMMER! more than mini-golf, and our area is chock full of mini golf courses. Here are my top five to try:

Ryan’s Mini Golf. You really can’t get better than rooftop mini golf right on the boardwalk in Rehoboth! Directly Above Ryan’s Gems & Junk Shop you will find a mini golf course that is easy enough for kids, but fun for the whole family. Decorated with loads of animal sculptures, this is a simple course, but it has the most amazing views of any mini golf course I’ve ever seen! Prices are reasonable too. Just be forewarned that it is hot up on that roof in the middle of the day!

Jungle Jim’s. Jungle Jim’s is more than just mini golf. It also features a water park, bumper boats, batting cages, go-carts, and more! It’s a little pricier than other mini-golf places around, but with water traps and other challenges it’s more fun too! Jungle Jim’s is located at 36944 Country Club Road in Rehoboth.

Shell We Golf. Shell We Golf might be the most famous golf course in Rehoboth since it’s so easily recognizable as you pass back and forth on Route 1. This course is great to play when it’s hot out since there’s a lot of shade! This is a mid-range course. Fun for the whole family, but with some pretty simple holes to keep the attention of the little ones! Shell We Golf is located at 19366 Coastal Highway in Rehoboth.

Fire Mountain Golf at Midway Speedway. Midway Speedway is another one-stop summer sport fun-land! This mini golf course is located beneath a volcano and is challenging and fun for everyone! In addition to mini golf there are also go carts, water slides, bumper boats, a climbing wall, and a lazy river! A day at Midway Speedway is fun for the whole family! Midway Speedway is located at 18645 Coastal Highway in Rehoboth.

Long Neck Mini Golf. If you’re looking for a fun game of golf but don’t want to fight the traffic into Rehoboth, check out Long Neck Mini Golf. Set amidst beautiful gardens, Long Neck is my mini-golf course of choice! The course is fun and challenging, but not too hard for the little ones. Several holes have creative twists, like water hazards, second holes, etc. so it’s an all-around fun course! Long Neck Mini Golf is located on Long Neck Road in Millsboro – you’ll know it when you see the huge crab on top of the waterfall! There’s also a pizza place and ice cream parlor within walking distance if you want to make an afternoon of it!

The Historic Lewes Farmers Market opens this weekend for another season! Located at the Lewes Historical Society Complex (110 Shipcarpenter Street), the HLFM offers the freshest local foods available in an educational, community-oriented, family-friendly setting! Support local farmers every Saturday starting this weekend and running through the end of September. 8am-12pm every Saturday from May 26-September 29, 2012.

Saturday, May 26^th-Sunday, May 27^th: Seaford’s Heritage Weekend
This 5^th Annual event is held at the Governor Ross Plantation all weekend. It features a living history encampment, demonstrators, crafts & exhibits. Living history artisans will demonstrate period crafts and re-enactors will participate in demonstrations. In addition, there will be live music and entertainment. Sunday, May 27^th: Lantern Tours of Fort Miles
Historic Fort Miles, located in Cape Henlopen State Park was an important defense position during World War 2. This weekend you have the opportunity to tour the gun battery by lantern light and learn about how soldiers defended the U.S. coast. Sunday, May 27^th: Concerts in Cupola Park
Head down to Cupola Park in Millsboro from 6pm-8pm for a free outdoor concert sponsored by Thoro-Good’s Concrete. Performing a wide variety of pieces from Frank Sinatra to the Beatles to the Rolling Stones and more, this band has roots in Southern Delaware and enjoys playing to their home crowd!

Here at Cooper Realty we are going to do our own version of HGTV’s “House Hunters” called In Pursuit of the Perfect Property – our theme for this week is single family homes with at least 4 bedrooms. So, without further ado, here are your property choices for this week…

In Sussex County, towns like Lewes and Rehoboth Beach get a lot of publicity, and for good reason, but the inland town of Millsboro is a great town as well! Last time I was there, I had no idea where to eat so I took a chance and walked into the Blue Water Grill (226 Main Street). And let me tell you, I’m so glad I took that chance. It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!

The atmosphere was laid-back and hip. It was the kind of place that could be dressed up or down so that anyone would be comfortable. You could throw on jeans and a t-shirt and bring the kids for a family meal, put on a suit and tie and bring your colleagues or customers for a business lunch, or dress up a little and come for date-night!

Atmosphere is great, but let’s talk food… that’s why you go to a restaurant in the first place, isn’t it? Every bite of the food at Blue Water Grill was absolutely delicious. I went for lunch with my husband and ordered the salmon sandwich. I love salmon, and the sandwich did not disappoint, but it was the house horsey sauce that took it from yummy to Y-U-M-M-Y! My husband had a burger and said it was one of the best burgers he’d ever had (and he LOVES burgers, so that’s high praise!). Our entrees were delicious – even the fries were good, but it was our starter that left us wanting more. The House Recipe Seafood Bisque was awesome! I’m not exaggerating at all when I tell you that it was by far the best soup I’ve ever had. We ordered a bowl to share, but we should’ve each ordered our own because we were practically fighting for the last spoonful. I’m nearly drooling just thinking about it!
