Pizza at the beach is a great tradition! Here’s some of the best options:
Grotto Pizza. With several locations along the boardwalk, more on Rehoboth Ave, and several locations inland as well, Grotto Pizza is a summertime favorite! Though, not everyone loves Grotto, I have to admit it is my first choice for pizza in Rehoboth, and I’m obviously not alone because Grotto pizza has been voted Best Pizza in in Delaware in the past. Yum!
Nicola Pizza. Home of the famous Nic-o-boli, Nicola is the pizza of choice for many! Locally owned and operated for over 40 years, there are 2 locations in Rehoboth to serve you. Nicola uses a delicious 3-cheese blend and homemade sauce and dough, and will even ship many of their products, including jars of sauce and Nic-o-bolis. Delicious!!
Louie’s Pizza. In addition to good pizza, Louie’s also serves up their famous grinders as well as delicious subs and cheese steaks. If you’re looking for some place a little less touristy than Nicola or Grotto then Louie’s is your best bet. After all, they advertise themselves as “Rehoboth’s best kept secret: the place where locals eat!”

Lupo di Mare (247 Rehoboth Ave.) in Rehoboth Beach fuses classic coastal Italian cuisine with local ingredients. Serving dinner from 5pm-9pm Sunday through Thursday and 5pm-10pm Friday and Saturday, Lupo di Mare also features a happy hour daily from 5pm-7pm. The menu features delicious seafood choices such as seared octopus, gorgeous mussels, pan seared sea bass, spice seared tuna, and more. Adriatico Ristorante (First St. & Baltimore Ave.) in Rehoboth Beach has been a Rehoboth Beach staple for over thirty-five years. Specializing in Italian and seafood dishes, they serve up delicious dishes and a great selection of Italian and American wines as well. Adriatico is also participating in Restaurant Week 2013 by serving a three course dinner featuring grilled salmon, seafood lasagna, prime rib or chicken italiano for $35 including a glass of house wine or a non-alcoholic beverage. 2. Blue Moon. This award winning restaurant is housed in a beautiful, restored Victorian beach house and serves great food alongside unique entertainment. The $45 three course prix-fixe menu features Miso Glazed Scottish Salmon, Crispy Barnyard Chicken, and a Stout-Brined Berkshire Pork Chop as the entrée choices.
3. Salt Air. Featuring locally inspired dishes with fresh, local and sustainable ingredients with an emphasis on organic choices, this restaurant is a popular local choice. The three course $35 prix-fixe restaurant week menu features several entrée choices including seafood, chicken, and steak choices.

It’s restaurant week in Rehoboth Beach this week, which means many of Rehoboth’s favorite restaurants are serving prix fixe dinner specials and some are offering lunch specials as well. Here are a few restaurants I’ve spotlighted before that you may want to check out this week:
Café Azafran (18 Baltimore Ave) is serving dinner from 5pm, featuring a 3 course menu for $35 with entrée selections including Grilled Ribeye Steak, Bacon Wrapped Pork Chop, Azafran Crab Cake or a Seafood & Pasta Sauce.
Dogfish Head Brewery (320 Rehoboth Ave) is offering a $25 three course prix fixe menu including entrée choices such as Pork Confit, Woodgrilled Rainbow Trout, Woodgrilled Brined Chicken, and more.
Eden Restaurant (23 Baltimore Ave) is offering a $45 three course prix fixe dinner menu which includes entrée choices such as Grilled Brazilian Strip Steak, Roasted Pork Tenderloin, Cioppino, and Wood Oven Roasted Rainbow Trout.
Jam Bistro (21 Baltimore Ave) is offering a $35 three course prix fixe dinner menu including entrée choices such as Pork Flat Iron, Herb Marinated Sirloin, and Stuffed Flounder.
Mariachi Restaurant (14 Wilmington Ave) is offering a two course lunch menu for $15 and a two course dinner menu for $30 with choices such as Salmon Salad, Pechuga Empanadas, Seafood Fajita, Salmon Relleno and more.

Jam Bistro(21 Baltimore Ave) in Rehoboth Beach is the casual answer from the owner’s of Eden. Specializing in down-home cookin’ and craft cocktails, Jam is open for lunch from 12pm-3pm and dinner from 5pm 7 days a week. With a wide variety of menu options and daily specials, Jam Bistro is definitely worth checking out for a good American meal with a twist.

The Historic Lewes Farmers Market opened for the season last week and will be open every Saturday until the end of September. Most Saturdays the farmer’s market is at the Historical Society (110 Shipcarpenter Street), but on June 22nd, July 13th, and August 3rd the market will move to the Shields Elementary School parking lot (910 Shields Ave.). Vendors sell everything, including fresh beef & pork, homemade jellies and jams, fruits, veggies, organic baked goods, gourmet cheese, and more. For a full list of vendors, check out this list. It is definitely worth checking out, although you should leave your pets at home because they are not allowed.

Baywood Greens in Millsboro will be serving their elegant Mother’s Day Brunch Buffet in both their ballroom and clubhouse restaurant. Ballroom seatings will be at 10am, 12:30pm, and 3pm and restaurant seatings will be at 11:30am and1:30pm. Adults are priced at $29.95, children 6-12 at $17, and kids 5 and under eat free. The Buttery
Some have called enjoying a meal at The Buttery “the ultimate culinary experience!” Located in historic Lewes, the inviting atmosphere of this restaurant almost requires you to bring Mom in for a rich and relaxing experience! Their brunch is ordered a la carte and is served with fresh fruit and pastries as well as a choice of champagne, mimosa, or bloody mary. Typically priced at $22.95/person, it is unclear on whether they will be making any adjustments especially for Mother’s Day. La Tonalteca (4578 Rt 1) in Rehoboth serves up delicious tacos, fajitas, enchiladas and more alongside their famous margaritas. With reasonably authentic lunch and dinner options including pork, chicken, beef, seafood, salads, and more La Tonalteca serves up good food with good service for reasonable prices. In addition to the restaurant in Rehoboth, there are locations in Milford and Millsboro as well. Not only is La Tonalteca a great place to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, it is also the place to enjoy a Mexican fiesta any time of year.

A lot of the restaurants that I highlight serve American and/or seafood dishes or creative twists on those cuisines, so today I want to highlight a different type of cuisine… latin! I love latin food, and Mariachi (14 Wilmington Ave) in Rehoboth serves up some of the best Cuban, Mexican, Portuguese, and Spanish food around! Delicious!!! Locally owned, Mariachi serves up flavorful food, delicious desserts, and happy hour Monday through Friday. Their fresh, homemade salsa is delicious, as are the enchiladas and margaritas. Prices are fair, the service is great, and you really can’t go wrong no matter what you order. Definitely worth a try if you like latin cuisine!

Café Sole (44 Baltimore Ave.) in Rehoboth Beach was voted one of the best restaurants in Sussex County by Delaware Today last year. With Key West flavor and a cozy beach décor, Café Sole serves up one of the best crab cake sandwiches around, and the regular crab cake is delicious too. The pork tenderloin is also a flavorful favorite. With a full lunch menu and great specials, stop in Wednesday-Sunday for lunch from 11am-3pm or dinner from 5:30pm-10pm.

The focus at Hobos (56 Baltimore Ave.) in Rehoboth Beach is on locally grown produce and global-fusion cuisine. The food is Mexican, European, and Mediterranean. With lunch and dinner options, Hobos also offers vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Hobos isn’t for everyone, but if you like a laid-back restaurant atmosphere and eco-friendly food, you should definitely give it a try.

Jakes Seafood House has two locations (29 Baltimore Ave. & 19178 Coastal Hwy) in Rehoboth. Jake’s serves a variety of succulent and delicious seafood. Their lemon-butter scallops, steamed clams, whole Maine lobster, and salmon all come highly recommended, but their crab cakes are legendary! Jake’s began as a family restaurant as one of Baltimore’s first seafood houses and grew to the Rehoboth Beach area over 25 years ago. Both locations are still family owned and operated and run by the high, family standards that have been a part of Jake’s from the beginning. This means that all the food is prepared fresh daily and made to order. If you love seafood, Jake’s is definitely worth checking out, even in the off season!

If breakfast is your thing, then you definitely need to check out Crystal Restaurant (37300 Rehoboth Ave.) in Rehoboth if you haven’t already. Crystal Restaurant is a cozy, no-frills, family establishment that serves their renowned breakfast for unbeatable prices all day long. Their make your own omelet station is a cornucopia of choices, including filet mignon, feta cheese, shrimp, veggies, a variety of cheeses, gyro meat and more. They also have breakfast sandwiches, three kinds of Eggs Benedict, and pancakes that are to die for! In addition to all the breakfast basics they also serve some great sides like home fries, scrapple, and grits as well as delicious mimosas and Bloody Marys. Crystal Restaurant serves lunch and dinner too, with some delicious options, but breakfast – served all day – is definitely the shining star!
